Accepting Canadian Dental Care Plan

At Phoenix Dental Implant and Invisalign Centre, we are committed to providing our patients with the best possible dental care. We are excited to announce that we are accepting the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) in Vancouver, BC, a new initiative by the Government of Canada designed to make dental care more accessible and affordable for those in need.

What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan?

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federally funded dental care program introduced by the Government of Canada with the goal of improving access to dental care for individuals and families who may not have the means to afford essential oral health services. CDCP is designed for households with an annual income under $90,000 and no private dental insurance.

Who Qualifies for the CDCP?

To be eligible for the CDCP, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Canadian resident for tax purposes.
  • Filed an income tax return for the previous year.
  • Do not have dental insurance through a private or pension plan or with an employer.
  • Have a net family income of less than $90,000 annually.

The application process is phased, beginning with seniors. Children under 18 and those with disabilities can apply starting June 2024, with all other Canadian residents eligible to apply from 2025. Learn more about the CDCP

How Can People Apply?

If you are a senior (age 65 or older), you should have been received a letter with instructions and an application code. Applications can be made over the phone. If you haven’t received a letter, ensure your address on your 2022 tax filing is current and update it with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) if necessary. Applications can also be submitted online through this link.

  • Information about the CDCP

The CDCP covers various dental services aimed at preventing and treating oral diseases, such as diagnostic services, dental X-rays, preventive services, periodontal services, restorative services, endodontic services, prosthodontic services, sedation dentistry, and oral surgery services. Some more complicated services requiring approval (pre-authorization) from the insurance company will not be offered until November 2024.Services requiring pre-authorization include crowns, retreatment of root canal teeth, removable partial dentures and braces.
